Hummer Adventures 8/18/96

Hummers on the beach in Spring Creek.

Hummer Adventures 8/25/96

The trails leading back to the creek were extremely muddy ! Picture 1 is a Chevy PU 4x4 that was blocking the trail stuck in the mud.... I pulled them out backwards and suggested another route back into the creek that might be a little easier for them.... Picture 2 is the same Chevy PU later in the day and he killed his truck while going through high water! I guess maybe it was his first time at Spring Creek!!

Here is a picture of a Jeep stranded in the high water! Ya gotta know how deep the water is before you cross!!! The second Picture is Cindy the wonder dog helping me stretch out a small tow rope so we can rescue the jeep! The third picture is the jeep being pulled to safety, now to get the water out of the motor!!! and the fourth picture is Cindy feeling triumphant because she got to help in the rescue! (what a great dog!!)

More Adventures 10/20/96

Here we are again, another great outing

W e met in a shopping center parking lot, we had hoped for a lot more people to show up but we ended up with only four trucks. Jim Feine and his friend Dick in Jim's 95 wagon, Allan Madar with in laws (?) in his 1993 red wagon, Craig Tull (the Unimog Guru) in a Unimog 404 radio truck (it's neato!) and myself in my 94 green open top. Here is a picture of Jim's new snorkel! He did this for under $30, since the Spring Creek where we are going has an unpredictable bottom, it is better safe than sorry. Jim also added a new roller fairlead to his winch, a good addition!

N ext picture is overhead radio mounts in Allan's truck, quick and dirty but quite effective! Next is Allan's new lightbar, now Allan, lets spend a bunch of money and fill it up with llights! and a picture of Craigs Mog radio truck....There are so many cool little military gadgets on this thing! I had a zillion questions for Craig...

OK, enough introductions, we finally made the trek from the shopping center parking lot to the creek! Here we all are on the beach at Spring Creek! Now, lets have some fun!

The Mog had an easy time with the mud and water in the creek but didn't seem to like to soft sand.... Allan found out the hard way just how deep the creek can be! We had crossed this section of creek many times before but you do have to be careful EVERYTIME! He managed to keep the trucks engine running, you can see his bubbling exhaust in the picture by his read tire. When we noticed Allan was too deep and couldn't get out we all scrambled! (to get our cameras) After all the pictures were taken I pulled my truck in behind him and gave him a little tug. If you own a Hummer I know you hear all these questions all the time and here is picture proof! No Hummers don't float, and No they are not watertight!

I sure had a good time! A picture of me playing Hummer Ballet! But This guy in the ford truck was not so lucky! we did pull him out easily and Jim gave him a tow back to the main beach where he could work on his truck.... Some places the sand was so deep Jim couldn't pull the big Ford truck so I hooked my winch to Jim and pulled them both through the soft sand! A Hummer winch sometimes draws a crowd when you use it, the normal 4X4 guys aren't used to seeing the MONSTER WINCH that the Hummer has.

I know you all wish you could have been there! I will post on the Tx4x4 Mailing list next time we plan to go!

BE THERE!
