Custom built 1963 MERCEDES UNIMOG
SOLD
Some say the UNIMOG is the best offroad vehicle ever made!
38 inch tires, 18 inches of ground clearance at the differentials!
Portal axles with geared reduction hubs for more torque!
Amazing articulation, and factory FRONT AND REAR lockers! WOW!
Ya gotta see this one to believe all the extras. Front PTO winch (a monster) AND rear 24volt electric winch.  good Texas title!
SOLD

Front AND rear winches!
Front is the humongous Mercedes winch driven by a PTO.
(rare and VERY powerfull!)

The rear winch is 24volt warn electric HUMVEE winch.

Custom front brushguard.
Note: Hella Fog lights have been removed.

Custom STRETCHED CAB!   The Unimog 404s are known for having cramped interiors, this rare hardtop model has had the cab stretched back 14 inches so that large or tall folks can drive in comfort. We also have installed some nice comfortable seats that are seen in pictures further down the page... The factory Unimog seats were not nearly as comfortable...    Due to the stretched cab, we also had a custom bed built. The back and the sides fold down (and remove) for easy loading. Also note the custom built and very stout rollover protection.
Close up of the front winch workings. Ya gotta see this industrial size hook! This monster winch has a HUGE hook, Huge cable and very long cable... I didn't actually measure how long the cable was but the one time I tried to unreal it all we stretched it way down the street and there was still one wrap left... wow!

Custom fitted and very rare (FRENCH) pop out windows.. The bottom pushes out for better ventilation (like the old VW busses).. These are actual RARE Unimog pop out windows but had to have the wiper motors moved to the top to be custom fitted to this truck... Much cooler to drive in the summer time with the better ventilation...

Nice clean interior..  Although the truck is 24volts and uses two 12 volt batteries (OPTIMAS!) I have also installed a 12 volt circuit and separate 12 volt fuse box which allows the installation of normal 12volt radios, CBs, GPSs, and so on...
Some of the Dynamat insulation on the roof.  We did the engine cover as well so it isnt so hot to drive this monster truck.
Interior view..
Has HAND THROTTLE so you can use your brake and clutch with your feet and control the throttle with  yout hand, also can lock into place to keep the truck at a constant speed.

Also has tilt meter ...

6 speeds forward and 2 speeds reverse..
2 wheel or 4 wheel or 4 wheel locked operation. woohoo!

COMFY seats and with the stretched cab there is even storage room behind the seats!.
other interior view, you wont find many Unimogs with this kind of comfort!.  AND SEAT BELTS!

Rear mounted WARN 24 volt electric winch!. Its amazingly convenient to have winches on front AND rear...

rear view, notice loops on top of rear tailgate, when the tailgate is down they are steps!

You might notice the white cross near the differential, its part of the low light military convoy lighting, its non functional now but we left it on cause folks always ask us about it..

nice side view..   Check those tires!
And one of my favorite features is the roof observation/escape hatch...
Oh, I almost forgot to mention, this truck has an onboard air compressor and air tank mounted under the rear bed of the truck. The air compressor is driven by the engine and cranks up over 100PSI of air. Easily running most air tools.
Right now the air system is disconnected but I have all the plumbing and the regulator. I was going to rebuild the system with two airtanks for added air storage but never got around to it, I have lots of parts including an extra compressor and extra tank to be included.
